Adipex (phentermine) is an anti-obesity medication specially designed for the needs of people suffering from obesity and unable to lose weight on their own. Patients using Adipex are supposed to talk to their health care provider about the exercise routine and diet plan they will need to follow to make sure they get all the benefit of the treatment. Adipex is usually well tolerated and only a few mild side effects are possible, such as chest pain, itching, dizziness, diarrhea, constipation, headache, feeling anxious, and dry mouth. You must never combine Adipex with selegiline, isocarboxazid, rasagiline, phenelzine, tranylcypromine, and other Mao inhibitor, as these can cause dangerous and potentially life-threatening health effects. Always make sure you tell your health care provider if you are taking fluvoxamine, fluoxetine, MAO inhibitors, sertraline, phenelzine, guanethidine, insulin, depression, tranylcypromine, or other weight loss medications, as this may affect the dose you are prescribed or make it impossible for you to take this drug at all.
